Describing my symptoms is a little bit difficult, because they change often,. Mostly, the symptoms appear to affect only half of my body; above or below the waist, but usually not both at the same time, sometimes it's left or right also, but less often. If symptoms are more active above the waist,: I can feel a low -- frequency tingle surrounding the entire left side, head to toe. Although there is no pain, my hands are very weak and klutzy, clenched tight and exhausted, I am dizzy, nauseous, and vision is affected in varying ways. When the lower body is affected the feet and legs are most affected. Normally there is more extreme problems on only one side left, usually it is the left side, but the right is not static either, it also oscillates back-and-forth. Today, both of my legs are most affected, with burning coldness and numbness, from the tips of my toes, through the back of my legs to the knees. It is also extremely painful, super-topically along the outermost left torso (external pain), through the left hip and into the lower left rib cage area especially. I also have very serious tightness, a near Charlie-horse tightness, of both hands, especially the inner two fingers. I have no nausea, dizziness, obscured vision, or tingling around the head or torso today, although these are common symptoms. Physically the back of the neck, does itch. I spent the last three days babysitting my feet, with hot salty water for the wounds and for the heat to increase circulation over all, when I sleep I elevate my feet. The color changes from purple too flesh color with heat, virtually immediately, although the open wounds take a long time to heal. Symptoms Baseline When asked what my symptoms are, I recently realized that I stumble through the answer. I intuitively suspect there is a pattern, and so I have decided to research the symptoms searching for any patterns which may exist. It quickly became obvious that I could not write down every thing, every day, so I chose to right down changes only. The database of symptomatic changes which I add to daily, must be understood through a beginning, therefore below I try to logically organize an overall summary of the situation; to describe my symptoms basically. In the database, I describe the symptoms first with a part or activity, then left or right side, top or bottom, and front or back. Each record also allows a numeric value for degree, I use very good at zero -- by 9 I think I suspect I would be fighting for consciousness. Symptoms Dynamic: up and down -- left and right -- Symptoms ordered by severity: Left Side: almost all of my symptoms are primarily on the left side. I the right side can be more affected them the left side but this is rare. When the left side is predominately affected, the them varies between the upper and the lower body. For the last three weeks my lower body has been affected in my feet are in trouble. But last happened in early February, and went away as fast as it came. In the interim, my upper body was affected, including my arms my hands and my level of consciousness. I was more dizzy my vision was blurred at times I saw double vision with one eye closed in the supra official left torso pain was more into upper and rear ribs area. Feet:: my feet may be the biggest problem I have at the moment. On February 17, 2003 I went to St. Mary's emergency room because my right foot turned purple and the outer skin died which resulted in open wounds which looked like a nasty frostbite. During the next three weeks the right foot got better but the left foot flared up and turned purple too. Dr Wetzler seriously feared that I could lose my feet, or at least most of my toes. We both of this very seriously and investigated with vascular specialist's and ankle brachial Index studies. On March 28 03 the ABI study showed triphasic pulses and I good blood-pressure ratios. This eliminated in the typical vascular problems but the doctors expected to find. Historically, the symptoms began in my feet, specifically the toes of my left foot. Initially in, perhaps as long as four years ago, I would wake up take it stop and find my foot to be for oblique painful with one toe absolutely purple. This situation lasted only one day the color improve the pain disappeared and I excepted this situation as an under-noticed injury. Several weeks later I have another toe on the left foot turned purple and this too lasted for a day. This continued until each of the toes had this problem in turn. In no case did this skin break or wounds appear however. On February 17, 2003 the center toe of my right foot turned purple, this was the first time the right foot was affected and I was concerned because of the congenital problems with my right foot and it's poor circulation. I was concerned about potential blood clots. I went to St. Mary's emergency room when open wounds appeared on the both right foot toes, yet they turned me away as an indigent refusing me care, although they sent me a healthy bill. I so my feet and very hot salty water and took an aspirin a day as countermeasures. On March 24, 2003 the outermost half of my left foot, including all of the toes, went dark purple and quickly developed open wounds. Soaking my feet and hot salty water, and hot showers seems to stabilize the problem, yet mostly I just went away by itself. The symptomatic problems in my feet remained dormant for the next six months, behaving perfectly until mid-October 2003. My feet also have great pain, primarily the left foot, and at times I have trouble putting my left foot down where I wanted to go. It can be difficult to walk without stumbling at times. I must consciously and purposefully think about moving my foot to its next proper position when walking. My right foot hurts primarily underneath the center toe, a problem that first surfaced when I went to St. Mary's emergency room and was denied treatment. Pain in the left foot berries: the arch of the foot is the most commonly painful area, at other times the pain is much more above the foot and in the ankle, and at times individual toes hurts so much that stepping on them hurts like hell. Right Torso:: this area is horribly painful and has remained for oblique painful fight constantly for the last four years. The pain is most unusual, and I call at super -- topical. It is completely unnoticeable once touched, even wearing a shirt eliminates this pain because a shirt is already touching the torso. Without a shirt however the pain is outrageous went hot at, a drop of water from the shower hurts like the Dickens. A touch of that and hurts outrageously as the hand touches this skin, but once touched there is no pain; it is only the lightest of touches which hurts so much. This is a symptom that concerned Dr. Dicus the most on June 7, 2001. The pain exists from the center of my chest, around the left side to the center of my back. It is especially yet cute on the extreme left side just below shoulder level and just above the hips. Although the intensity of this pain can very, it is both constant and can be disabling. At its worst, breathing can be difficult to end the ribs move, and walking can be painful at the hip. Hands:: I do they are very weak, icy cold, and art to, to manipulate even a button or is upper without looking to see what I'm feeling. There is also a definite lack of automatic response, especially on the left side. I must think my arm and hand to do something with purpose, my motions are neither smooth nor automatic but rather somewhat jerky. This causes great disability, however I would not call it painful. Consciousness/vision: my consciousness seems to be affected that time, especially when the upper body is more involved than the lower body symptomatically. I have times I feel groggy, foggy; vision is a blurred, coordination is reduced, and I become horribly nauseous. I believe this only happens when that the feel fine, it only seems to happen when my arms and hands are more affected then my feet and legs. Mobility: this has been a problem for at least four years now. But the left foot and the torso pain at the hip make walking both incredibly painful and completely exhausting. Walking one block is often more than I want to two, sometimes I stop and wait halfway through the block to catch my breath from the pain. Lack of coordination on my left side, especially the left leg and foot, often caused me to stumble and walked like a stereotypical drunk. This is especially true if I have been up for a long time, although even sitting to work all day exacerbates this situation. Coordination: primarily this affect my left side. Both my leg -- fourth, and of my arm -- hand can be affected. The right side can be affected two making writing virtually illegible. The most trouble some symptom for me however is when my left foot and leg becalmed disc coordinated, because I have never been able to balance on my right foot due to congenital birth effects. I have reason relied upon my left foot to stabilize my balance, when I can't get my left foot in front of me to the proper place for the next step, walking is laborious at least. Overall: icy limbs, burning numbness, and serious fatigue are my biggest complaints. Last often, but perhaps more scary, severe nausea, dizziness, blurred vision, and general fogginess also disable me.
